This problem engages students with the simplicity of its presentation. Students (and many teachers) will not instantly see that it is actually a slope problem.

Present the video to your class. Give them grid paper and scissors and let them try it out. Ask them to explain what is going on. Hopefully they come up with something about how the diagonal isn’t straight, which you can use to lead into slope.
