Angry Birds and Parabolas

This activity is different than the Angry Birds Exploration, also on this blog, which is intended to be more of an exploratory activity. This one is more of an assessment.

This activity could be used as an assessment or as a review on graphing parabolas. It comes to me from an Alberta high school, who gave me permission to share. Students take screen shots of Angry Birds and model the parabolas using quadratic functions. There is a physics connection built in for those of you who teach both math and physics.

I tagged this for both Math 20-1 (Pre-Calculus 11) and Math 20-2 (Foundations 11). It may be difficult for 20-2 classes. Perhaps someone who tries it there could let me know.
